Update

It´s been a while!
My training in the past two weeks had, as always, some up and downs. Unfortunately I´ve been sick a couple of days, so that no training was possible. After being ill, I felt most of the time pretty bad and therefore decided not to increase my mileage and stayed at about 8km per run. That´s why I stayed at about 45km per week. The last couple of days I could raise my runs up to 10km and on top of that, I feel great during my runs. In the coming days, I will therefore try a fartlek session. It´s hard to raise the training slowly, but it´s necessary to avoid new injuries.
So keep training smart... =)

What a beautiful run I had today... 10min into my run it started pouring and a storm came out of nowhere. The icing on the cake was a hail-shower! So, I finished my run after 30min and as fast as the bad weather came, it was gone... twenty minutes of the day with thunder storm, right when I am running. I guess I am hardened for the future now :) Other than that I am happy to anounce that I ran 42km last week and I am planning to run 6 times about 8-10km this week, so I am shooting at about 50-55km.

See you soon...

Everything is going well. I ran 5 times this week and a total milage of 42km. I still keep building up my runs only minute by minute, but it feels like real running again. My pace varies between 4:25 and 4:10, and I am feeling more and more comfortable running that pace :)

All the best to all of you

It has been a little while... but I´m happy to tell that I have great progress with my foot. I ran 4 times about 7 to 8km last week and all without pain. I still feel that I should keep things easy, but its nice to get out the door with running shoes on. This week I´try to run 5 sessions of about 6 to 10km so that my foot gets used to running again. Other than that, I am swimming 4 to 6 times a week, so I should be in a decent form this summer. Besides sports I am writing with a group on a project for university... so that´s my first priority right now.

See you all soon on the track ;)

Frohe Ostern

Frohe Ostern, God PÄske and Happy Easter to all of you!
I spent the holidays on Bornholm and I was also taking my first running steps last week. I jogged 5min and the food felt ok. However, when I tried to jog 10min two days after, my food got a little sore and I stopped after 3min. So there have been a couple of ups and downs last week but I am happy anyway. All in all I have been jogging 3 days last week from 5min to 10min and 15min. Mette took a couple of pictures and I am happy to share with you a proof that I am finally lacing my shoes again =)

Ok, I´m not cross training at all right now, but that´s alright. I don´t think I get that much out of it anymore. It´s frustrating I could not (and still cannot) run for the last 13 weeks. It is the third year in a row I am not able to run for a long time. With few exceptions, I was basically injured the last three years in a row. It seems there is something wrong with my feet and I also seem to do something wrong with my training.

However, I am following all the running stuff anyway. Especially here in DK since I moved here August 2010. Many athletes in DK have their own homepage or blog where their write about their training. It´s really interesting and now also a couple of German runners share their training with the public (or with running nerds... ;)). So for example Andre Pollmacher (since Winter 2010/2011) and Jan Fitschen (since recently). Here in DK I sometimes take a look at Morten Munkholm, Jakob Hannibal, Morten Fransen and Andeas Buenos training. I really think it is interesting to see the different ways to train.

Pollmacher´s homepage, however, is really instructive as he´s explaining his trainingmethods. Moreover he really trains hard and I hope he´s going to be rewarded for it with good times this season.
While the two Germans are Marathonrunners, the Danes are more middle distance runners (with the exception of Fransen). I am most impressed by Buenos training - he basically never runs more than 100km per week (but therefore with high intensity) and managed to run 30.05 at the Danish 10k championships.

Right now, I am more than hundred miles away from those guys performance´s, but I really hope I can mix up with all of them in a year or so. I wished I could run with them now, but so far I cannot even run...

So good luck to all of them and all of you!
Greetings

It´s been a lazy week again with many little ups and little downs. My foot hurts some days while walking, so that I really could not see myself running any time soon. That was kind of depressing as I have to face the possibility to miss another outdoor season again - the 3rd one in a row. The last weeks, I was often thinking about getting started with another sport, something you´re not getting that much injured :)

Moreover, the was pool locked from Thursday to Sunday as a swimming meet takes place during that time. I decided to take these days off and get some rest and actually my foot feels a little better now. I think at least.

At university I was busy too and had to write a statistics project. Luckily, I am done now and there´s only one (big) project left this semester.

I´m a little bit more optimistic now to start running in a couple of weeks. Hope it´s not followed by a downbeat...

All the best =)
